Tulamben is a village that developed into a tourist attraction because it has diverse marine potential.
Tulamben Marine Park is one of the attractions that makes Bali famous for its underwater tourism. Tulamben is a famous diving spot because in addition to underwater scenery such as coral reefs and fish, there are also wrecks (wreck points).
Located in Tulamben Village, Kubu Sub-district, in the northern part of Karangasem Regency about 25 km from Amlapura City - the regency capital -, 37 km from Candidasa Beach tourist attraction, and about 82 km from Denpasar City.
Access to the location is easy to reach because it is located on the edge of the highway from Amlapura to Singaraja, Buleleng. Tulamben was later developed into a tourism area covering 2 sub-districts, namely Tulamben Village in Kubu Sub-district; Datah Village, Labasari Village, Culik Village, Purwakerti Village, and Bunutan Village in Abang Sub-district.
The main attraction of Tulamben is its exotic underwater potential for diving and snorkeling activities due to its clear water conditions throughout the year and calm currents. At a depth of 30 meters under the sea there is the skeleton of the ship "Liberty", a United States merchant ship that sank as a result of being hit by a Japanese submarine torpedo on January 11, 1942 while on its voyage across the Lombok Strait
Diving in the depths of the Liberty wreck is the best reason for divers to come to Tulamben. It is estimated that there are about 400 species of reef fish that inhabit the wreck and is visited by about 100 species of pelagic fish.
This place is also referred to as a paradise reef because it is full of surprise marine animals that appear, such as ribbon eels, mimic octopus, boxer crabs, ghost pipefish, seahorses, leaf fish, garden eels, lionfish, harlequin shrimp, and other types that are not commonly found here. Meanwhile, a collection of jackfruit fish that number up to hundreds always enliven this shipwreck and they are very friendly to divers.
